Pilot Flying J Opens Second PJ Fresh Marketplace

Cotulla, Texas, travel plaza includes company's new fast-casual dining concept

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Pilot Flying J recently opened a Flying J Travel Plaza in Cotulla, Texas, featuring full amenities for professional drivers and the second location of PJ Fresh Marketplace, the company's new, fast-casual dining concept.

PJ Fresh Marketplace delivers an expanded variety of fresh, fast meal options for drivers. The first PJ Fresh Marketplace opened in March at the Pilot Travel Center in St. Marys, Ga., and the company plans to open more locations across the U.S. in the coming months.

"We hope that professional drivers and motorists traveling through the Cotulla area will enjoy the convenience and amenities of our new Flying J Travel Plaza," said Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam. "Our new PJ Fresh Marketplace delivers more food options that are fresh, healthy and quick. Drivers will enjoy quality 'grab-and-go' choices as well as an opportunity to sit down, rest and enjoy a variety of hot, home-style meals."

Located off Interstate 35 at exit 69 at 921 North I-35, the travel plaza offers professional drivers and Cotulla area residents many amenities, including eight diesel lanes and 12 gasoline lanes with high-speed pumps; everyday products; a Subway; premium coffee and cappuccino selections; and PJ Fresh Marketplace serving fresh tacos, breakfast platters, salads, sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs, frozen yogurt bar and more.

The new facility is Pilot Flying J's 40th in Texas and the 661st overall in North America. The company said that it expects the site to contribute more than $2.7 million annually in state and local tax revenue.

As with all other Pilot Flying J locations, the Flying J Travel Plaza honors the MyRewards loyalty card, through which members can earn in-store retail and restaurant discounts.

In other company news, Pilot Flying J has announced that it is breaking ground on a new Pilot Travel Center in Odessa, Texas, located just off Interstate 20 at exit 121 (Loop 338). The company said it expects to complete construction by fall 2013. The new facility will feature many amenities including a McDonald's, a Pilot Flying J deli, premium coffee and cappuccino selections and more. More details about the facility's offerings will be announced closer to its opening.

The combined network of more than 650 Pilot travel centers and Flying J travel plazas across North America serves more than 1.3 million customers daily. Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Flying J's network provides customers with access to more than 60,000 parking spaces for trucks, more than 4,400 showers and more than 4,000 diesel lanes, of which more than 3,000 offer diesel exhaust fluid (DEF)  at the pump.
