Quick Chek Asks: 'What's Your Beef?'

Convenience chain introduces line of Angus burgers
WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Updating the question on everybody's lips since the 1980s, Quick Chek, a chain of nearly 120 fresh food convenience stores located throughout New Jersey and southern New York, is asking not "Where's the beef?" but "What's your beef?" The retailer is rolling out a collection of six quarter-pound Angus Beef Burgers.

The varieties include:
The Classic American with yellow American cheese, pickles, tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, ketchup and mustard on a Kaiser roll. Bourbon BBQ with cheddar cheese, bacon, red onions and bourbon barbeque [image-nocss] sauce on a Kaiser roll. Spicy Buffalo with white American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and spicy buffalo sauce on a Kaiser roll. Roasted Tomato & Garlic with roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella and roasted tomato and garlic spread on a Kaiser roll. Southwest with Monterey Pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise on a Kaiser roll. The Ultimate with provolone cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and Texas horseradish sauce on a Kaiser roll. "We're happy to bring our customers another new and exciting choice on our expansive fresh food menu," said Jennifer Vespole, senior category manager for foodservice for Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based Quick Chek. "The launch of our new quarter-pound Angus Beef Burgers represents our commitment to offer a wide variety of menu choices that satisfies every craving morning, noon and night."

Regularly priced at $4.49 each, Quick Chek is offering the new Angus Beef Burgers for just $2.99 each every Friday for a limited time.

And, on Friday, July 17 from noon to 4:00 p.m., Quick Chek's own Burger Brigade will visit Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, N.J., where they will offer mall shoppers the chance to share their own "beef" on videotape. Each participant recording their own "beef," will receive a coupon for a complimentary Quick Chek Angus Beef Burger.

Earlier this month, McDonald's launched a line of three Angus burgers priced at about $4 each. Varieties include a deluxe burger with pickles and tomatoes, a mushroom Swiss burger and a bacon cheeseburger.
The burgers will be sold in all U.S. locations for the next few months, said the Associated Press.

McDonald's has been testing the burger for several years in Ohio, New York, Los Angeles and New Mexico, but it held back from introducing it to all U.S. consumers to focus on its core menu and lower-priced offerings, said AP.
