AFPD Names Eby-Brown Exclusive C-Store Program Provider

Regional association partners with convenience distributor

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Convenience-store distributor Eby-Brown has become the exclusive c-store-endorsed program partner of the Associated Food and Petroleum Distributors (AFPD) association in Michigan.

“Through Eby-Brown, AFPD is able to offer discounted rates for products to its members that chain stores get from various companies. This enables our members to be competitive and feel more like a chain from store No. 1. Additionally, if you sign up with Eby-Brown, and qualify as a member, they will pay the AFPD membership fees for as long as the store continues to do business with Eby-Brown,” said Auday Arabo, president and CEO of AFPD.

“Because of our size, we are able to deliver value through buying power to this market that other distributors cannot,” said Thomas Wake, co-president of Eby-Brown. “Additionally, we provide many of the same sophisticated solutions through our technology, foodservices and product mix that the independents might not otherwise have access to. We do this because we care about providing them solutions to grow their business.”

Naperville, Ill.-based Eby-Brown, with more than $5.5 billion in revenue, is a major family-owned wholesale consumer products distributor in the convenience industry, driving efficiencies and profitability for more than 125 years through its programs, technology and variety of product and foodservice solutions. Eby-Brown owns and operates eight distribution centers throughout the Midwest, mid-South, Southeast, Northeast and East Coast.

AFPD is a multistate trade association representing thousands of food, beverage and fuel retailers operating in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and surrounding states. Its members include independent supermarkets, convenience stores, petroleum retailers, gas stations and specialty food markets, as well as wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers who support the retail industry.

AFPD maintains executive offices in West Bloomfield, Mich., and regional offices in Columbus, Ohio, and Chicago.
