CBC Launches Learning Center

Training, education solution offers onsite, online options for retailers

WESTMONT, Ill. -- CBC has launched theCBC Learning Center, a multi-faceted training and education solution for convenience store owners and operators. It includes onsite classroom as well as online training. Both components of the CBC Learning Center provide retailers with techniques to improve operations and profitability. Courses are designed for all levels, from owners to managers to customer service representatives. Classroom training includes in-depth, full-day seminars and advanced workshops targeting specific business issues. [image-nocss] CBC is hosting more than 30 Retail for Success seminars in 25 cities this year. It said that it plans to double those efforts in 2009. Additional services include custom solutions and onsite consulting. Seminars and workshops offer participants the opportunity for hands-on learning from experienced instructors.

Online training courses are designed for access anytime and anywhere, offering a 24/7 training solution for a 24/7 industry. Participants are greeted with a virtual online instructor at the start of each course. The instructor guides users through the class material and reinforces key points. Users also become actively involved in the class through interactive features, such as dragging and dropping key items. It also provides downloadable items, such as tip sheets, worksheets and charts, for later reference. Each course wraps with a quiz in under 30 minutes. Students that successfully pass the quiz receive a course completion certificate.

CBC's online training courses were developed in direct response to retailer requests. "Retailers told us they needed help with the issues they face every day," said Jon Lanphier, CEO of Westmont, Ill.-based CBC. "There is a real need for education and training in our industry. Most convenience store operators have a hard time leaving their businesses, even for a few hours, to attend a training workshop. Now retailers can choose from a classroom setting or online training. The CBC Learning Center fills that void in education and training by allowing retailers to learn at anytime or anywhere."

CBC is a major marketing services company for independent operators in the petroleum, c-store and automotive businesses. CBC members, which total more than 21,000 locations, rely on CBC to deliver insight into the products, services and suppliers that will build their business.
