AFPD is also known for giving back to the community through scholarships, fundraisers, and its annual Turkey Drive, which provided 28,800 meals to needy Detroit-area families this past Thanksgiving. The association has approximately 3,900 members who collectively employ about 55,000 people in Michigan and Ohio.
The Detroit Historical Society and AFPD have collaborated [image-nocss] on a Centennial Exhibit featuring artifacts, old photographs and more that will take the media and members of the public through the highlights of the industry's achievements. The exhibit, set up at the Rock Financial Center in Novi, Mich., is free and open to all on February 12.
AFPD members and industry supporters, as well as distinguished political guests and other dignitaries will tour the exhibit and attend a dinner and dance for more than 1,000 guests. The annual AFPD Trade Dinner & Ball, a black-tie affair now in its 94th year, is the largest food industry gala in the Midwest, the Farmington, Mich.-based association said.
