Clark Waives Fees on the Platinum MasterCard

Chevron promo attracts cardholders

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Clark Brands LLC has waived fees for Clark retailers and dealers when accepting the Clark Platinum MasterCard through the end of 2005. Beginning September 9 through the end of 2005, fees on Clark Platinum MasterCard transactions will be 0% for transactions under $250 (transactions over $250 will carry the standard 1.35% fee with no transaction charge). Clark Brands plans to review the fee at the end of this year.

We are waiving the fee on the Clark Platinum MasterCard to provide Clark licensees and their dealers with relief from credit [image-nocss] card fees said Karl Goodhouse, president of Clark Brands.

The Clark Platinum MasterCard features rebates on everything customers purchase at Clark Stores8% during the first 60 days of activation and 4% thereafter. Customers also earn 1% on purchases made everywhere else.

Clark Brands owns the Clark family of brands. The company licenses the Clark gasoline brand and the Four Corners Coffee Brand to independent petroleum marketers and retailers.

Separately, Chevron Corp.'s Credit Card Enterprises (CCE) said that it attracted nearly 90,000 new credit card customers from the recently completed $30 Credit and Triple Your Rewards summer promotions.

We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to these programs by our customers, said Danny Roden, vice president of Chevron North America marketing. We have one of the strongest credit card files in the industry and we are very proud to hold the highest credit card market share of any proprietary oil company credit card. We plan to continue the momentum from this successful summer with a variety of new fall programs geared to attract new Chevron and Texaco credit card customers.

From now until November 30, or while supplies last, Chevron retail locations will provide customers with a decorative It's What's Inside That Counts static cling decal. Each decal's backside will offer customers approved for a credit card a Travis Tanker Toy car, which is the latest addition to the wildly popular Chevron Cars slated for release in November.

Texaco is also kicking off a promotion where customers can receive a No. 42 Texaco/Havoline car decal with any gasoline purchase at participating Texaco stations. Each decal's backside will offer customers approved for a credit card a Limited Edition #42 Texaco/Havoline Racing Cap. For the first 500 approvals, the cap will be personally autographed by the No. 42 car driver, Jamie McMurray.

In addition, San Ramon, Calif.-based Chevron will launch a massive direct-mail program offering customer incentives for new consumer cardholders. Through the direct-mail program, customers will have an opportunity to earn five dollars per month in fuel credits for up to five months.
