Keeping the Flu in Check

Quick Chek offers complimentary flu shots to all employees, dependents
WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek, a leading chain of 120 fresh food convenience store locations throughout New Jersey and southern New York, said that the company is currently offering flu shots, free of charge, to each of its 2,300 employees. In addition, the company's new 2009 flu shot program, an extension of its Fit for Life preventive employee health services initiative, also provides complimentary flu shots for each dependent of Quick Chek employees enrolled in its health benefits program.

Other convenience industry companies are also offering free flu shots [image-nocss] to employees. As reported in CSP Daily News earlier this week, Knoxville, Tenn.-based Pilot Travel Centers LLC, in an agreement with Walgreens, is offering free seasonal flu shots to all 14,000 of its employees nationwide. "The health of our team members and their families is extremely important to us," said Nancy Rumpf, Quick Chek leader of benefits and recognition. "We are proud to offer each of our employees the opportunity to help protect themselves against the flu and have seen our program participation rate nearly double since the launch of this year's effort."

Quick Chek's pharmacy locations have also held a series of October flu shot clinics for customers throughout its New Jersey operating area. Three additional clinics are scheduled to be held in Parlin, N.J., Passaic, N.J., and Milltown, N.J., where flu shots are $30 each.

Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based Quick Chek Food Stores Inc. is a market leader in foodservice with fresh coffee and fresh food programs. Operating 120 retail locations in New Jersey and southern New York, Quick Chek's locations include 12 pharmacy stores and 23 locations with fuel.
