Mr. Zippy's Opens in Alabama

First kiosk for Jim Coleman distributor Pesco

BROOKWOOD, Ala. -- Car wash maker Jim Coleman Co. said that a Mr. Zippy's Ice and Water House has been installed and is open for business in Brookwood, Ala. It is the first Mr. Zippy's for Jim Coleman distributor Steve Statkewicz of Pesco Inc., Mobile, Ala.

Statkewicz opened this location in late December 2007.

Mr. Zippy's Ice and Water House is a freestanding retail kiosk that delivers both purified ice and water to the customer through a patented process. The kiosk provides the customer with several options. The customer has the choice to purchase one, three or five gallons [image-nocss] of purified water. The customer also has the choice to purchase a 10-lb. bag or 20 lbs. of bulk ice.

The ice is never touched by human hands and is only exposed to food- grade stainless steel, according to the company. The water is purified by an eight-stage process before it reaches a container. The purifying process includes five-micron filtration, ion exchange water softener, granulated activation carbon, once-micron filtration, reverse osmosis, post filtration and ozone disinfection.

Mr. Zippy is intended to be an additional profit center for existing carwash locations, the company said. Potential locations include car washes, convenience stores, supermarket parking lots, marinas, resorts and truckstops, it added.Jim Coleman also recently announced that it has received National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) approval for the Mr. Zippy's Express Ice and Water House. The NAMA approval certifies that Mr. Zippy's meets federal guidelines for sanitary design and construction of food, beverage and water vending machines. This approval will help the company meet the health requirements in various states, it said.Houston-based Jim Coleman is a major self-serve car wash equipment manufacturer.
