Quick Chek to Accept Contactless Payments

Retailer using new payment option to speed service

WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. -- Quick Chek, a chain of more than 100 convenience food stores in New Jersey, is now accepting contactless payment options to help speed service to its customers. This contactless payment solution, which includes Visa Contactless, MasterCard PayPass and Express Pay from American Express, uses radio frequency (RF) technology to reduce the amount of time customers stand in line, making the purchase process faster and more convenient.

Customers hold their contactless payment card or fob near a secure checkout point instead of requiring [image-nocss] customers to swipe cards.

The system relies on technology that uses a contactless chip and antenna embedded in the card that produces payment information which can be processed with dramatic speed. This way, Quick Chek can produce faster checkouts for its customers.

Because Quick Chek is a market leader in both product offerings, customer service and quality experiences for its customers, this technology points to the innovative nature of this chain, said Maria Fidelibus, vice president of information technology for Quick Chek, Whitehouse Station, N.J.

No signature is required for transactions that are $25 or less, increasing the convenience and speed that enables customers to move through the checkout. Tests indicate that contactless payments are up to 25% faster than standard cash transactions and allow Quick Chek to manage and track receipts electronically, the company said.
