Red Wagon Radiothon

WFMS, GasAmerica raise more than $350,000 for children's hospital

INDIANAPOLIS -- Hoosiers responded enthusiastically to the second WFMS Riley Radiothon, pledging $353,442.92 for Riley Hospital for Children, said the Indianapolis radio station.

On February 9, 10 and 11, more than 50 Riley children and family members told their stories on the 95.5 WFMS Riley Radiothon presented by GasAmerica, aired live from Riley Hospital. Listeners heard about Riley's world-class, compassionate care from the children and families who experience it firsthand.

During the three days of the WFMS radiothon, presenting [image-nocss] sponsor GasAmerica sold red wagon paper icons for $1 at all 62 of its Indiana convenience store locations. By the end of the radiothon, GasAmerica raised an additional $24,125 to benefit medical research and clinical programs at Riley Hospital.

No Indiana child is ever turned away from Riley because of a family's financial situation, said Kevin O'Keefe, president and CEO of the Riley Children's Foundation. We couldn't make that claim if it wasn't for the generosity of Hoosiers, like the WFMS listeners who pledged their support and the GasAmerica customers who bought the red wagon icons.
