This past year, Redner's collected $104,993 and more than three tractor trailers full of new, unwrapped toys to be donated to the various Toys for Tots programs throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland.
The trademark of this program at Redner's has been the paper Choo Choo trains that customers can [image-nocss] purchase for a $1 donation. The retailer displayed the trains at the front of the stores throughout the holiday season, each bearing a personal message.
Highlighting the 2007 program were the six Redner associates who each sold more than 1,000 trains. These associates were located throughout Redner's trade area in both large and small stores. Enthusiastic support from customers and associates has continued to make this a successful program at Redner's for the past 26 years, the company said.
It has been an important part of the program's success to ensure that all the money and toys are returned to the customers' communities through local Marine Corps Reserve Centers or the Marine Corps League. Toys are distributed for the immediate holiday, but the money is donated at the conclusion of the holiday in January. Monies are donated after the program to ensure that each group begins the following year with a positive balance, which they can use to purchase toys or other needed materials.
Redner's Markets Inc., an employee owned company, currently operates 39 Warehouse Markets and 12 Quick Shoppes at Warehouse Market locations throughout eastern Pennsylvania, New York and Maryland. Redner's is committed to supporting the community in which each Warehouse Market and Quick Shoppe is located through a variety of supportive partnerships and enrichment programs.
