QUARTZSITE, Ariz. -- Shay Oil, Quartzsite, Ariz., said Tuesday that its 17 Chevron gas stations and convenience stores in the Yuma, Ariz., area will participate in a fundraising program benefiting The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club in Yuma County, reported The Yuma Sun.
Donation cards in the shape of The Salvation Army's red shield are being sold for $1 at the stores. Customers are given the chance to autograph the bright-colored shields, which are then hung up on store walls.
The donation cards are part of the organization's [image-nocss] Annual Community Campaign, which also includes the traditional red kettles, food drives and angel trees throughout the community. Local leaders said that more than 1,200 families will receive food from The Salvation Army this holiday season, while more than 4,000 children will receive toys and clothing.
