Sunoco Signs Gas Station TV as Exclusive TV Partner at Pump

Deal follows successful two-year pilot

PHILADELPHIA -- Sunoco Inc. and Gas Station TV, a major digital television network at the pump, have forged an official partnership. Following a two-year pilot test of the concept and program, Sunoco has inked a deal with GSTV, naming it as the official approved vendor to display television screens at pumps across Sunoco's 4,700 locations.

Currently, GSTV is installed at more than 100 select Sunoco stations in top markets including New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Tampa and Pittsburgh. The corporate deal will be marked by an expansion into additional Sunoco markets [image-nocss] in the next several months.

"We are proud to be recognized by Sunoco, a world-class gas retailer, for meeting or exceeding their very high standards of excellence during the pilot program," said David Leider, CEO of GSTV. "Our objective was to create a brand building platform for Sunoco and an entertaining television experience for consumers."

GSTV delivers entertaining and informative content with hyper-local targeting down to an individual gas station, motivating a captive mass audience just steps away from the convenience store. It connects with captive consumers for four to five minutes during a natural pause point in their day when they cannot channel surf or skip past your message with a DVR. Programming includes exclusive news and entertainment segments from NBC, sports from ESPN, local weather from AccuWeather and original content.

Designed as a tool for driving business for advertisers and increasing the revenue stream for gasoline retailers, Birmingham, Mich.-based GSTV broadcasts to more than 100 U.S. designated marketing areas (DMAs) at 13 of the nation's leading gasoline retailers. GSTV is consistently among the top 10 most watched primetime shows weekly based on actual transactions equaling real impressions, according to the company. GSTV's ratings are consistent, and do not fluctuate based on show popularity as on primetime traditional television, it added. GSTV is the only digital TV network at the pump with Nielsen Media Research-verified viewership, demographics, dwell time, network size and recall, it said.

Sunoco, headquartered in Philadelphia, is a leading manufacturer and marketer of petroleum and petrochemical products. With 675,000 barrels per day of refining capacity, approximately 4,700 retail sites selling gasoline and convenience items, and an ownership interest in approximately 6,000 miles of crude oil and refined product pipelines and approximately 40 product terminals, Sunoco is one of the largest independent refiner-marketers in the United States.
