TA Donates More Than $440,000 to St. Jude's

Chef Point Cafe running Toys for Tots drive
WESTLAKE, Ohio -- TravelCenters of America LLC, through its TA and Petro branded locations nationwide, raised $446,373 for the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in through the October 16 annual Halloween Pumpkin Promotion, it said.

During the promotion, employees at participating TA and Petro Stopping Centers asked patrons to make a $1 donation to St. Jude to support its fight against catastrophic childhood diseases. Customers could make the donation while dining at the company's full-service and quick-service restaurants or while visiting the travel stores. [image-nocss] In return, the donors had the opportunity to write their names on pumpkin-themed pinups, which were displayed through the month of October.

TA and Petro employees also donated at the company's Westlake, Ohio, headquarters and at each travel center location.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities throughout the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization.

TA is a leading travel center business in 41 states and Canada operating under the TravelCenters of America and Petro brands. With convenient locations on interstate exits, TA offers its customers diesel and gasoline fueling services, full and quick-service restaurants, heavy truck maintenance services, 24-hour convenience stores, electronic communication (WiFi) and other services, all within large, high traffic facilities.

Separately, thanks to patrons of Chef Point Cafe and Toys for Tots, Christmas will be a little bit brighter for some deserving Fort Worth, Texas, area children. Starting on December 1 and going through December 12, Chef Point will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys.

Kris Kringle will be at the Chef Point Cafe on December 12 to review Christmas lists and pose for photos.

Chef Point Cafe is a gourmet restaurant in a Conoco gas station in Watauga, Texas. Owners Franson Nwaeze and wife Paula serve up meals in a quirky, fun environment. The Italian-American restaurant has been featured on the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives.
