Wilson Farms Steps Up to the Plate

Fundraising campaign to benefit Meals on Wheels programs
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Beginning tomorrow, Wilson Farms and the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York Inc. will ask customers to support the thousands of homebound elderly and disabled New York residents through the "Step Up to the Plate" program. Now in its 5th consecutive year with the local convenience store chain, the fundraising campaign will run from October 31 through November 29 in all Wilson Farms, Sugarcreek and Wilson Farms Xpress locations throughout the state of New York.

Customers can participate by purchasing a Meals on Wheels "plate" for a $1 donation. The [image-nocss] purchased "plate," which will include the name of each donor, will then be displayed in that store.

The program has collected more than $124,000 for countless meal recipients touched by Meals on Wheels programs.

"We are looking forward to another successful fundraising campaign with the Meals on Wheels Foundation of Western New York," said CEO and president of Wilson Farms Inc., Paul Nanula. "We know we can count on our customers to 'Step Up to the Plate' as they have shown their kindness and generosity time and time again in the past."

Meals on Wheels for Western New York prepares and serves approximately 800,000 meals to 3,300 local residents each year. To do so in the most cost-effective way, the organization relies heavily on a volunteer force of about 2,000 individuals.
