Red Alert! Sriracha Bacon Lollipops

Boutique candy maker rolls out latest wild flavor

AUSTIN, Texas -- Lollyphile, the Austin, Texas-based candy company that earlier this year launched vegan breast-milk-flavored lollipops, has just come out with a new Sriracha bacon flavor, reported The Los Angeles Times. The company has also made Sriracha lollipops and a maple bacon flavor.

"We've made several kinds of bacon candy and were the first to make a Sriracha candy," said Lollyphile owner Jason Darling. "This feels like a pretty natural progression, headed straight for awesomeness."

According to the Lollyphile website, the lollipops are "candied salty spicy peppery porky goodness." And of course, they're red. But the Sriracha bacon pops almost didn't happen.

"We had every intention of making a pumpkin pie spice lolly for Thanksgiving," Darling said. "But the ubiquitousness of pumpkins, the recent concerns of a Sriracha shortage, and the Thanksgiving/Hanukkah overlap made a Sriracha bacon lollipop something that needed to happen."

The Sriracha bacon lollipops are available on Lollyphile.com. A pack of four pops is $10, a dozen is $24 and a case of 36 is $58. For the next month, it is offering free shipping in the United States with the discount code SPICYBACON at checkout, said the report.

The company's other flavors have included bleu cheese, absinthe, wine and passion fruit, among others.
