Cumberland Farms Through & Thru

Chain opens second store with a drive-thru window

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Life is getting a little easier for residents of Worchester, Mass., with the opening this month of Cumberland Farms’ newest-model convenience store, featuring a drive-thru, a new menu, and now its latest convenience, a fun self-serve kiosk that allows customers to customize sandwiches to their liking.

Designed for busy, on-the-go consumers, the new drive-thru allows shoppers to order from a diverse menu, featuring made-to-order food, such as breakfast and deli sandwiches, as well as the retailer’s signature Farmhouse Blend coffee and Chill Zone fountain and frozen drinks. Most of the 3,000 items sold inside the store are available for drive-thru purchase, including grocery staples like bread, eggs and cereal. Lottery tickets are not available for drive-thru purchase. This is the second Cumby store to include a drive-thru.

For those customers who go into the store, they will be greeted by a new kiosk that lets them customize sandwiches with toppings and sauces.

To celebrate the new store, Cumberland Farms is hosting a month-long fundraiser to benefit the Worcester Youth Center. For the month, Cumberland Farms is donating 20 cents from every Chill Zone beverage, iced tea and coffee (iced or hot) purchase to Worcester Youth Center.

“We are excited to fulfill an important role in the marketplace and introduce a new avenue that makes every day easier for our customers, including the young people at the Worcester Youth Center,” said Cumberland Farms president Ari Haseotes. “We provide daily essentials, just how the customer likes it, in a single stop, whether it’s a coffee, a hot sandwich, or a gallon of milk.”

So far this year, the company has donated more than $100,000 to support local youth organizations across the Northeast. This new store is the latest innovation from Cumberland Farms, as the Framingham, Mass.-based company accelerates a major store renovation project for its nearly 600 retail locations.
