Kwik Trip Expands, Upgrades

"We want all of the white vinyl siding to go away," exec says of remodeling strategy

LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Near Rochester, Minn., Kwik Trip Inc. is moving ahead with it growth plans. A new Kwik Trip station is under construction in Zumbrota, Minn., while a re-build and expansion of a store in Byron, Minn., is also under way, reported The Post Bulletin. And a new store in Chaska, Minn., is holding a grand opening today, added The Chaska Herald.

As part of Kwik Trip's Green initiative, the locations are expected to meet environmental requirements to earn the state's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification, said the [image-nocss] Post-Bulletin. They could also include rain gardens and alternative fuel options such as charging sites for electric cars and compressed natural gas.

Kwik Trip's real-estate director Hans Zietlow told the newspaper that negotiations are in the works to possibly expand and upgrade a couple of Rochester's 12 stations.

The idea, he said, is to improve the appearance of all of the Kwik Trip stores to match the brick-exterior model that was first introduced with the construction of the prototype built in south Rochester.

"We want all of the white vinyl siding to go away," Zietlow told the paper concerning the outdated exterior look of Kwik Trip's older stores.
