Looking for the Right Owners

Five Conoco stations for sale in Illinois, Missouri

ST. LOUIS -- Five Conoco-branded stations have been put up for sale in the metropolitan St. Louis area.

The sale is effective immediately, and the five-station chain includes four stores in Illinois and one in Missouri. As a whole, the stores are doing approximately 6.2 million gallons and $4.2 million in inside sales.

According to The Energy Exchange, which is handling the sale, the sites being offered range from $525,000 to $1.5 million or approximately $4.87 million for all five stations.

"Our objective [image-nocss] here is to find the right owner or groups of owners to take the stations into the future, whether that comes by way of an existing retailer looking to add an existing chain or one store to its portfolio, or an individual operator looking to get into the business with what is clearly profitable and efficiently running stations," said Phil Boyd, managing director of The Energy Exchange.

All of the stores have been owned and operated profitably for many years. The current owner, which The Energy Exchange said it is not disclosing for privacy purposes, is a long-time investor in the petroleum and gas station business and is looking to sell off the chain in order to meet investment priorities in other areas.

The Energy Exchange is a Chicago-based real estate firm specializing in the sale of gas stations and convenience stores nationwide.
