Malone to Lead BP America

Will replace the retiring Pillari

HOUSTON -- Robert A. Malone has been appointed chairman and president of BP America Inc. and will serve as BP's chief representative in the United States, to replace the retiring Ross Pillari.

"I have known Bob Malone for more than two decades. He brings broad experience to his new position and a proven record of success in the companies he has led," said BP CEO John Browne.

Prior to accepting his current position, Malone served as CEO of BP Shipping Ltd., where he was responsible for the operation of the energy industry's largest [image-nocss] oil and natural gas fleet.

During his career, Malone has held a series of increasingly senior positions within Kennecott Copper Corp., the Standard Oil Co. of Ohio (Sohio) and BP including an assignment as president, CEO and COO of Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., operator of the Trans Alaska Oil Pipeline.

Malone will be based in Houston, where BP business units are involved in oil and gas exploration and production, refining, chemicals, supply and trading, pipeline operations, shipping and alternative energy.
