Sheetz Opens 38th Mountain State Store

And 35th in Tar Heel State

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Sheetz Inc. opened its second convenience store in Beckley, W.Va., its 38th in the Mountain State, on Thursday afternoon. Also on Thursday, the retailer opened a store in McGee's Crossroads near Benson, N.C., its 35th in the Tar Heel State.

Festivities at each location included a contest for the first 50 people in line when the doors open. These customers won a $100 Sheetz Z-card good for anything in the store. Customers played games to win prizes and enjoyed samples of Sheetz food and beverages.

"People are lined up and waiting when we get to the store[s] to cut the ribbon," said Stan Sheetz, the chain's president and CEO. "We can't wait to serve new customers and work to give them the best ever experience in our stores. We love to see them being as excited as we are to open."

The opening of the stores is great economic news as well. Each will employ approximately 40 people, including management positions.

The Beckley store is 7,000 square feet in size and has indoor seating for customers; the McGee's Crossroads store is approximately 6,500 square feet in size.

Sheetz continues to proudly support Special Olympics and made donations to Special Olympics West Virginia and Special Olympics North Carolina, respectively, as part of the celebrations. Sheetz has been a partner of Special Olympics since 1992, making monetary and product contributions as well as providing event volunteers.

The new facilities offer fresh food items such as the MTGo! And Shweetz Bakery lines of sandwiches, wraps, donuts and muffins, along with the signature MTO line of Angus beef burgers, premium grilled chicken sandwiches, freshly made salads, French fries, onion rings and more.

Sheetz Bros. Coffeez, a full-service espresso and smoothie bar staffed by a trained barista is available at the new stores. Customers can order handmade specialty coffee drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and mochas--hot, frozen or iced.

"Sheetz has a legacy of innovation, customer focus and employee development," Mr. Sheetz said. "The company's mission today is meeting the needs of customers on the go by providing fast and friendly service, quality products in clean and convenient locations."

Established in 1952 in Altoona, Pa., Sheetz Inc. is a family-owned and operated convenience store chains, with more than $5 billion in revenue for 2011 and more than 14,500 employees.
