Foodservice at Retail: Slow and Steady

Why the c-store industry can expect to see slow but steady growth in food sales

The drumbeat for retail foodservice continues its steady roll this year, though at varying volumes. For supermarkets, Technomic is anticipating 6% food and beverage real sales growth in 2017, while c-stores are expected to see a more modest 1.3% real growth. Why the lower expectations for c-stores? The vast majority of c-stores offer basic foodservice, a mature part of the business. Nonetheless, the industry can expect to see slow but steady ongoing growth.
