GasBuddy Engages Customers With 'Battle of the Snacks' Promotion

March Madness-style bracket lets app users vote for their c-store favorites

BOSTON -- Several beverage, snack and food brands will face off in GasBuddy’s Snacks Bracket Challenge, which—in the spirit of March Madness—pits 64 familiar convenience-store products against each other and asks GasBuddy users to choose their favorites.

Dubbed “Battle of the Snacks,” the bracket-style game is available to users of GasBuddy’s mobile app. GasBuddy calls the head-to-head challenge “a fun way to cast votes for your preferred snacks and beverages in a multiround, elimination-style activity.”

Between March 10 and April 3, app users can access the bracket to vote for snacks in four different buckets: sweet, salty, drinks and savory. The savory snacks fall within the prepared-foods category and pit hot dogs against corn dogs, pizza against burgers, chicken wings vs. taquitos, breakfast sandwiches vs. breakfast burritos and bagels against doughnuts.

In the beverage category, popular soda, energy drinks and sports drinks will face off, with iced coffee taking on iced tea and domestic beer challenging craft beer.

Each week, the bracket winners are whittled down to a Sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final 4 contest, until an eventual winner is chosen on April 4.

With each vote, app users are entered to win a $50 gas card. Entries are limited to three votes per person each day; five winners will be chosen. Customers are encouraged to share their picks on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter by using the hashtag #BattleoftheSnacks.

Based in Boston, GasBuddy provides tech solutions and software to the gas station and convenience-retail industry, supported by mobile apps, websites and user-submitted data.
