Greg Ekman has switched convenience-store chains, departing bp's ampm and Thorntons and joining Oklahoma City-based Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores as senior manager of culinary.

“Exciting news to share! I am thrilled to announce that I have joined Love's Travel Stops as senior manager of culinary,” Ekman (pictured right at 2022’s C-Store Foodservice Forum with moderator Mitch Morrison and Atlanta-based RaceTrac’s Alex Iscaro) announced on LinkedIn. “I have the incredible honor to work with a top-notch team dedicated to providing unparalleled food and beverage experiences for all of our over-the-road customers. Looking forward to this new chapter and all the great things to come!”

  • Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores is No. 16 on CSP’s 2024 Top 40 Update to the 2023 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. bp America is No. 7. Watch for the full 2024 Top 202 ranking in the June issue of CSP magazine and in CSP Daily News.

Ekman most recently was at Chicago-based bp for 15 months. His last title there was director strategy, innovation and guest experience for fresh food and beverage (ampm and Thorntons), according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to that, he was at Louisville, Kentucky-based Thorntons for nearly four years. His last role there was director of fresh food acceleration. In 2021, bp took full ownership of the Thorntons convenience-store chain after two-and-a-half years as part owner as part of a joint venture established in 2019.

Prior to that, Ekman worked for nearly a decade at Pilot Flying J, Knoxville, Tennessee. His last role there was senior category manager of foodservice.
