Kangaroo Express to Celebrate National Hot Dog Day

Offering 25-cent franks on July 23, with "Dog Day Madness" to follow on July 25

CARY, N.C. -- The Pantry Inc. has announced a National Hot Dog Day celebration--on July 23 it will offer 25-cent Ball Park hot dogs to customers of its 1,160 grill-ready Kangaroo Express convenience stores.

As a token of appreciation for the armed forces, Kangaroo Express will also offer a free hot dog to any customer with military identification.

The promotion will run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Paired with a RooCup refill, guests can pick up a dog and a drink for just 50 cents.

Kangaroo Express will continue the celebration on Friday, July 26 with its "Dog Day Madness" extravaganza, featuring great deals such as three hot dogs and a fountain drink for $3, five hot dogs and two fountain drinks for $5 and seven hot dogs and two fountain drinks for $7.

With more than half of its stores located within 25 miles of a military installation, Kangaroo Express is also encouraging customers to support the military men and women who protect the nation's freedom by donating to the Salute Our Troops campaign.

"We are inspired by the overwhelming generosity of our guests and are proud to support the military community all year long," said Joe Venezia, senior vice president of operations, Kangaroo Express. "We invite our guests to help us add a patriotic flair to National Hot Dog Day by enjoying an all-American classic and supporting the troops who protect our freedom every day."

Donations from the campaign will support the USO, lifting the spirits of America's troops and their families; Fisher House Foundation, donating "comfort homes" at major military and VA medical centers that enable military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization; as well as eight state-based military support organizations.

Since its inaugural year in 2011, the Salute Our Troops campaign has raised $5.7 million dollars, breaking fundraising records for many beneficiary organizations, including two of the most accomplished grassroots campaigns the USO has been involved in during its more than 70-year history.

As of May 7, 2013, Cary, N.C.-based The Pantry operated 1,567 stores in 13 states under select banners, including its primary operating banner Kangaroo Express.
