Sam's Club's Culinary Clout

Mass retailer forms ‘Simply Delicious Chef Brigade’

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Sam’s Club has commissioned eight restaurant chefs from across the country to develop meal-time solutions for its customers. Using its website and Facebook page, Sam’s Club is delivering chef-inspired meal ideas targeted at “busy families and all on-the-go Americans.”

Coined the Simply Delicious Chef Brigade, the team of chefs include Molly Hawks, executive chef of Hawks in Sacramento, Calif.; Todd Clore of Todd’s Unique Dining in Las Vegas; Dale Levitski, executive chef of Sprout in Chicago; Jan Kelly of Meritage in Milwaukee; and Casey Thompson of Brownstone in Dallas.

The chefs offer recipes, ingredient shopping tips and cooking techniques on the site, and will make appearances at Sam’s Club stores for in-club demonstrations.

“It can be challenging to invent new weekday dishes or to spice up your usual meals, especially when so many Americans are always on the run,” Shawn Baldwin, senior vice president of fresh & freezer/cooler at Sam’s Club, said in a press release from the company. “Our members--busy parents and restaurant chefs alike--depend on Sam’s Club for easy-to-find, quality food options and ingredients that simplify meal-time planning and solutions. Partnering with a brigade of top-notch chefs to unveil simply delicious recipes, Sam’s Club can inspire creative cooking and make eating in as exciting as dining out.”

The campaign kicked off last month with an end-of-summer recipe collection including summer shrimp Cobb salad, Cherry Yum Yum dessert and summer saucy ribs.

Sam’s Club will continue promoting the Brigade and their ideas at www.samsclub.com/meals.
