Americans for Prosperity Holds $1.84 Gas Events

Kum & Go stations hosting Conservative nonprofit group at three locations

CORALVILLE, Iowa -- Conservative nonprofit organization Americans for Prosperity is holding events Monday and Tuesday at Kum & Go gas stations in Coralville, Waterloo and Ames, Iowa, as part of the "Obama's Failing Agenda Tour"

"These events will highlight President Obama's failing green energy policies by reducing the price of gas to Iowans to $1.84 a gallon, the cost of gas four years ago before President Obama took office," the group said on its website.

The group limited gasoline at that price to the first 150 vehicles, and it limited each car to 15 gallons.

Americans for Prosperity is going coast to coast via bus "to educate Americans about President Obama's failing agenda, and to put grassroots pressure on him," it added.

"There's going to be some challenges, but it'll be good," Mark Lucas, the leader of Iowa's chapter of the group told KGAN-TV last week as he observed traffic outside the Coralville Kum & Go in advance of the Monday event.

The group is also providing more information about Mitt Romney's platform for the presidency, said the report, with a focus on his energy policies; an area Lucas says President Obama has not handled well putting too much emphasis on next generation fuels and not enough on fossil fuels or letting the free market work.

Lucas said these are not random locations for the group to share the wealth and spread their message. Each stop is within miles of each of the state's three big universities (Iowa, Iowa State, and Northern Iowa), said the report. Each of which have been big targets for the Democrats and President Obama's campaign; Obama even making stops at each this summer.
