Deal expands Lykins' fuel offerings

MILFORD, Ohio -- Lykins Cos. has purchased Brinkman Oil Co., Walton, Ky. Brinkman Oil offers a residential and commercial heating oil products and services, as well as supplies fuels, gasolines and lubricating oils services to the greater northern Kentucky area including Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, Gallatin and Pendleton counties.

All of Brinkman Oil's staff, including its owner, Emma Obertate, will remain with the company.

Brinkman Oil was founded by Richard Brinkman in 1971. When he retired in 2005, his daughter Emma, who had worked in the company for many [image-nocss] years, took over the company. "I'm very excited about this consolidation. It's the combination of two great companies combining resources and buying power to deliver even better products and customer service than each of our individual companies had already achieved and delivered to customers," she said.

With Lykins, northern Kentucky residential customers will continue to have home heating oil and other petroleum products to choose from. Commercial clients will also have fuel options including alternative fuels such as E85 and biodiesel. Now, under Lykins, area gas stations and convenience stores will have the choice of Shell, BP, Marathon, Exxon/Mobil, and Clark brands as well as unbranded fuel.

Lykins Oil's president, Jeff Lykins, said the purchase of Brinkman Oil expands Lykins presence in northern Kentucky. "We look forward to working with the businesses and residents to supply them with the best oil options, product selection and customer service possible," he said.
