Propel Fuels Named 2013 Green Innovator of Year

San Mateo County Economic Development Association honors California retailer

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Propel Fuels, a leading retailer of renewable fuels and clean mobility solutions, has been named the 2013 Green Innovator of the Year by the San Mateo County Economic Development Association (SAMCEDA) in California. As part of SAMCEDA's annual Innovators Awards of Excellence, it recognized Propel for its pioneering approach to providing consumers better access to renewable fuels and clean mobility options.

"In a hub of business innovation like San Mateo County, we're honored to be acknowledged for our efforts to provide consumers a better choice at the pump," said Matt Horton, CEO of Propel Fuels. "Drivers and businesses across the county, and California, have responded by filling up with renewable fuels made here in America, so we look forward to our continued expansion across the state."

Propel operates a growing network of stations that provide renewable fuels (E85 and biodiesel blends) alongside the conventional gasoline that most drivers use today. Offering a better station experience that reaches beyond fuel, Propel enables drivers to improve their vehicle's fuel economy, find rideshare opportunities, tune bicycles, and recycle on the go. Propel is the only fueling company in the country to bring drivers the opportunity to offset their emissions at the pump through the company's unique CarbonOffset program.

Covering businesses on most of the San Francisco Peninsula just south of San Francisco, including cities of Atherton, East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City and South San Francisco, the SAMCEDA Awards of Excellence have recognized outstanding businesses, organizations and individuals for more than 55 years. Along with Propel's Green Innovator award, this year's awards honors innovation in Silicon Valley across the following categories: App/Digital Entertainment, Aspiring, Biotech/Healthcare, Fastest Growing, Software and Technology.

Based in Redwood City, Calif., Propel Fuels operates a growing network of locations in California and Washington.
