RKA Adds Columbus Sales Office

Reed appointed national accounts executive

ROMULUS, Mich. -- RKA Petroleum Cos. Inc. has announced the addition of its Columbus, Ohio sales office. RKA's commercial customer growth, especially in the Ohio business-to-business market, called for the company to open an additional sales office, it said. The office, which opened in mid May 2010, is centrally located near Columbus.

"We wanted to be in close proximity to our customers in Ohio, to better serve them," said Keith Albertie, executive vice president of Romulus, Mich.-based RKA.

The company has plans to create new jobs and expand its retail team in this [image-nocss] same Ohio marketplace soon, it added.

RKA also has announced the addition of Michael E. Reed as its new national accounts executive to be the frontrunner in this space. Reed's background consists of more than 20 years of professional sales experience, in both the fuel and finance industries.

As an RKA national accounts executive, Reed now manages many of the company's national accounts throughout multiple states with a focus on its existing customer base within the state of Ohio as well as generating new business.

He works out of RKA's newly created Columbus, Ohio, sales office and reports to Scott Steiner, director of national accounts for RKA.

"[Reed's] diverse background in fuel and finance along with his extreme customer focus skills and proven track record were a good fit for RKA and will be a huge value-add for the many businesses in Ohio requiring the latest and greatest in fuel and fuel products and services," said Steiner.

Prior to joining RKA, Reed worked for Jacobus Energy in Columbus, for more than 13 years; where he was a territory manager.

RKA is a leader in distribution of refined and renewable fuel products and provides fuel management solutions to commercial, industrial and government customers in 24 states. RKA serves the retail industry in Florida, Michigan and Ohio. The RKA family of companies also includes Rex Carriers Inc., Romulus, which offers logistics management throughout 24 states and Ontario, Canada; and Land & Sea Petroleum Holdings Inc., headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which distributes refined fuel products in Florida.
