Romney Visits Kum & Go HQ

Retailer hosts presidential contender

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, paid a campaign visit with his wife, Ann, to the headquarters of Midwestern retailer Kum & Go LC in West Des Moines, Iowa, on January 3, the day of the Iowa Caucus.

(In the Caucus, Romney came in second to former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.)

Speaking at the event, Romney focused on strengthening foreign policy and ending foreign oil dependency. "Let's bring an end to foreign oil dependency," Romney said, according [image-nocss] to a report by The Iowa State Daily. "It will likely include more nuclear power, liquid coal, the clean burning coal, and all the renewable resources such as solar and wind."

He also spoke on the war on terrorism, health care and education, said the report.

Kum & Go has more than 445 stores in 13 states (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Colorado, Arkansas, Wyoming and Wisconsin).
