Race fuel will appeal to area's racers, performance enthusiasts

LEAWOOD, Kansas -- Star Fuel of Oklahoma LLC has signed on as the latest partner of VP Racing Fuels Inc.'s national branding program.

Based in Leawood, Kansas, Star Fuel supports 275 retail sites in an operating area that encompasses Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri and Arkansas with future plans for expansion in Nebraska.

"VP's branding program appealed to us first because of the significant savings we and our station owners will realize from lower credit-card fees and the ability to source unbranded supply," said James Koop, senior vice president of business development for Star Fuel. "But we see VP's race fuels as a real point of differentiation for our station owners, offering incremental revenue from an untapped segment."

"Good gas is good gas, but race fuel will appeal to the many racers and performance enthusiasts in our market area with street rods, muscle cars, motorcycles and more," Koop said. "We anticipate each of our VP-branded stations will sell VP's off-road fuel blends in 5-gallon pails from a Fuel Cube along with VP Madditives, VP Small Engine Fuels and other VP-branded products. The whole program serves to make our station owners more competitive."

"We are incredibly proud to add Star Fuel to our growing family of distributor partners," said Alan Cerwick, president of VP Racing Fuels.

From a single convenience store in Lenexa, Kansas, Star Fuel Centers grew to a small chain of eight locations in Kansas before buying 75 locations in the Oklahoma City market. As the wholesale side of the business also began to grow, Star Fuel divested itself of the retail operations to focus on site development and site management in partnership with both new and existing customers.

In other company news, VP Racing Fuels recently has extended its sponsorship of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car and Late Model Series through 2017; has announced a new partnership with the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) beginning with the 2015 drag racing season; has been named as the official fuel of the NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals Series and the required spec fuel for all NMRA heads up classes (the agreement between ProMedia Events, home of NMRA, NMCA and NMCA WEST, and VP Racing Fuels begins with the 2015 season opener on March 5-8 at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Fla., and continues through the 2017 season); and has extended its partnership with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) as the official fuel supplier and a partner of IMSA and the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

VP Racing Fuels is a leader in race fuel technology, fueling champions in every form of motorsports on land, sea and air since 1975. VP is the official racing fuel of Tudor United SportsCar Championship, AMA Supercross, World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, Super DIRTcar Series, Pirelli World Challenge, TORC-The Off Road Championship, NHRA Championship Drag Racing and Rally America, among more than 60 VP-sponsored series and sanctioning bodies.

As part of San Antonio-based VP Racing's retail branding program, gas stations and convenience stores across the country are branding as VP Racing Fuels, with each providing distribution for VP's other product lines, including ethanol-free VP Small Engine Fuels, formulated for 2-cylce and 4-cycle outdoor power equipment; VP Madditive performance chemicals; and VP/PowerMaster hobby fuels for radio-controlled racing.
