BEAUFORT, Ga. -- Some gas stations Beaufort, Ga., are limiting the amount of gasoline that motorists can buy, a move that is not going over very well with some customers, reported WTOC-TV.
Throughout the past few weeks, gas station attendants at a Kangaroo Express station said that have run out of gas several times; in one instance, it was three days before the station got gasoline again, the report said.
Last weekend, signs went up at several stations asking customers to limit their gasoline purchases to $50 per vehicle. And [image-nocss] no one is allowed to fill up secondary containers or cans, a move station owners said will help ensure fuel is always available.
Station attendants said most people have been abiding by the request. But a lot of people the news outlet talked with were not very happy about it, WTOC said, especially drivers with vans, trucks and sports utility vehicles (SUVs), considering that it currently costs about $75 to fill them up.
Kangaroo Express stations are owned by Sanford, N.C.-based The Pantry Inc., which currently operates 1,386 stores in 11 states under banners including Kangaroo Express, The Pantry, Golden Gallon, Cowboys, and Lil Champ Food Store.
