Gilbarco Veeder-Root Announces E85 Dispenser Plans

UL standards development in process

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gilbarco Veeder-Root has developed an E85-compatible Encore dispenser, and it is working in close partnership with Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) for formal approvals.

UL has not and will not issue UL Listing for E85 units until they have completed work on the proposed changes to a number of UL standards (Nos. 25, 79 and 87.) UL expects this work to take 45 to 60 days to complete the updates to the UL files adding requirements for alternate fuels. At that time, UL will grant dispenser manufacturers the ability to offer UL listing [image-nocss] on E85 units.

Gilbarco has started a project with UL for its high-hose E85 unit; UL has reviewed its unit and is in the process of finalizing the UL report, it said. All required testing has been successfully completed, it added. Weights & Measures (NCWM) approval of the unit is also underway, it said. We look forward to announcing both of these regulatory approvals at the launch of the E85 dispenser later this year, Gilbarco Veeder-Root added.

In addition, Gilbarco has been selling and marketing Gasboy low-hose units for use with E85 and biodiesel fuels since October 2005: Models 9853AX Electronic Fleet Dispenser and 8753EX Retail Mechanical Dispenser offer this capability, and they will be undergoing UL approval shortly upon completion of the new standards, said the company.

Greensboro, N.C.-based Gilbarco Veeder-Root and Gasboy are leading suppliers of integrated fuel control, site management, and support services for petroleum marketers and commercial fueling enterprises worldwide.
