Royal farms radio promotion offered free, discounted fuel

OWING MILLS, Md. -- A new Royal Farms store in Owings Mills, Md., offered free gasoline fillups to the first 98 customers last Wednesday, reported WJZ-TV. In the early morning darkness, the line of cars on Red Run Boulevard stretched for at least a mile, it said.

Royal Farms and radio station 98 Rock partnered for the "Happy Tanks-Giving" to Maryland residents.

After the first 98 customers received their free gasoline, all motorists were able to fill up for 98 cents a gallon until 10 a.m.

"This isn't a [image-nocss] gift certificate. Gas is something you have to have. It helps people out tremendously and we're glad to do it," said Mickey from 98 Rock.

Baltimore-based Royal Farms has more than 120 stores located in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
