SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Price Chopper launched Fuel AdvantEdge, a new program never before offered in the Worcester, Mass., or Putnam, Conn., marketplaces, in partnership with 12 local Sunoco stations that discounts gasoline as a reward for grocery store purchases.
In an effort to build additional value into the Price Chopper AdvantEdge card, which has offered consumers savings on groceries and general merchandise, the supermarket chain kicked off Fuel AdvantEdge in its Worcester and Putnam locations on August 30.
The program is [image-nocss] an ongoing, cumulative savings/reward program that gives consumers a 10 cents-per-gallon discount on gasoline purchases for every $50 of groceries purchased (20 cents per gallon on $100 purchased, 30 cents per gallon on $150 purchased, and so on).
Unlike other reward programs, consumers can accumulate their points/dollars spent across a 90-day period and cash in on their gasoline discount for up to 20 gallons at their convenience.
Based in Schenectady, N.Y., the Golub Corp. owns and operates more than 100 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
Independent refiner-marketer Sunoco Inc., Philadelphia, has more than 4,700 retail sites selling gasoline and convenience items, approximately 5,400 miles of crude oil and refined product owned and operated pipelines and 38 product terminals.
