WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LLC, which recently rolled out "Warm" and "Fuzzy"--described by chief operating officer Dennis Folden as "two fun-loving creatures [that] will be sharing their misadventures with coffee lovers this fall in an effort to help children in need"--is also offering Angry Birds, stuffed-animal embodiments of Finland-based Rovio Mobile Ltd.'s Angry Birds gaming franchise.
Unlike the chain's proprietary "spokescreatures," which are helping it promote its Java Ridge coffees, the Angry Birds are just part of the stores' general merchandise mix.
Warm and Fuzzy will appear on TV, radio, billboards, Facebook, Twitter, the retailer's website, posters, special Warm & Fuzzy cups and a new Java Ridge phone application, which lets consumers take a picture with us, find the nearest Java Ridge coffee, download coupons and more.
Fans can also follow the spokescreatures on Twitter: Warm @kgwarm and Fuzzy @kgfuzzy.
Rovio is an entertainment media company, and the creator of the globally successful Angry Birds franchise. Rovio was founded in 2003 as a mobile game development studio, and the company has developed several award-winning titles for various mobile platforms. In 2009, Rovio released Angry Birds, a casual puzzle game for touchscreen smartphones that has became a worldwide phenomenon.
West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go currently has approximately 440 stores in 11 states (Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming).
