Independent Wholesale Seeking Buyer

Central Fla.-based c-store distributor claims 10% of market

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Independent Wholesale Inc. said that it has retained Equity Partners Inc. to find a buyer for the company's tobacco, beverage, candy, snack, grocery and general merchandise distributing business, reported the Orlando Business Journal.

Founded in 1977, Orlando, Fla.-based Independent Wholesale employs about 87 people and operates an 88,808-square-foot distribution warehouse in Orlando, according to the report.

Selling to independent tobacco, candy and convenience stores represents more than 95% of the sales volume [image-nocss] for Independent Wholesale, said the company, which has more than 1,200 customers.

The company added that it has about 10% of the $500-million Central Florida tobacco, candy and convenience store market.

Pasadena, Md.-based Equity Partners Inc. is providing investment banking services for businesses seeking capital or a sale.
