McLane, Wallace & Carey Ink New Chevron Agreements

Deal covers more than 600 stores in U.S., Canada

TEMPLE, Texas -- McLane Co. Inc. and Wallace & Carey Inc., an independent Canadian distributor, have signed new agreements to serve Chevron owned and operated convenience stores and potential franchise locations in the United States and commission agents in Canada.

Under the agreements, which extend into 2008 with the option to continue, McLane will distribute grocery products to about 450 c-stores at Chevron stations in the United States and Wallace & Carey will distribute to 152 locations in Canada.

McLane Co. Inc. provides [image-nocss] distribution services throughout the United States, delivering food and nonfood products to more than 50,000 customer locations, including the c-store, drug store, mass merchandise, quick-service restaurant (QSR) and movie theater industries.

Headquartered in Temple, Texas, the company operates 19 grocery distribution divisions and 18 foodservice distribution centers as well as an industry specific software company. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., Omaha, Neb.

Wallace & Carey is the largest independent grocery wholesale/distributor in Canada, the company said. It operates seven modern distribution centers to service more than 2,500 accounts across Canada.
