WAWA, Pa. -- For the sixth year, Wawa Inc. is again the title sponsor for Welcome America!, the Philadelphia region’s biggest Independence Day celebration.
Beginning Saturday, June 27 and running through Saturday, July 4, Philadelphians will be treated to Wawa Welcome America! free family fun, including concerts, fireworks shows, Wawa Hoagie Day, the Liberty Block Party, Party on the Parkway, a beverage and free flag giveaway and free admission to two of Philadelphia’s Historic Museums.
The museums include the Franklin Institute, a science museum and planetarium, on June 29 and the National Constitution Center on July 2. The former includes a Wawa Dairy exhibit; the latter, includes a display that features Wawa's commitment to military, fire fighters and police officers.
July 2 is Wawa Hoagie Day: Hoagies for Heroes. It will include a salute to the military, fire fighters and police officers. Wawa president and CEO Chris Gheysens will announce the launch of the Wawa Foundation's annual USO campaign, kicking off in all Wawa stores chain wide.
Mayor Nutter will proclaim July 2 Hoagie Day. At the conclusion of the event, guests will be treated to a free performance by hometown heroes from NBC’s The Voice: Matthew Schuler and Audra McLaughlin
July 3 will feature a Liberty Block Party. And July 4 will feature Independence Day Parade & Party on the Parkway and the beverage and flag giveaway.
The retailer is also giving away a trip to the event.
Wawa, Pa.-based Wawa is a chain of more than 680 convenience stores, 420 offering gasoline, in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.
