Sale opens up first BP Connect franchising opportunities for retailers

WARRENVILLE, Ill. -- BP Products North America took another stepas reported earlier this week in CSP Daily Newstoward selling off more of its company-owned stores yesterday with the announcement of plans to sell 27 convenience stores in the Orlando/South Florida market. Eighteen of the sites are currently in operation, and nine are non-operating surplus properties.

Twelve of the 18 operating sites are being offered for sale by BP with 20-year BP Connect franchise and fuel-supply agreements, and the other six will be BP-branded dealer-owned and [image-nocss] dealer-operated businesses. The sites are generally located in the South Florida market, with two non-operating sites located in the Orlando market.

BP plans to build its brand through a network that includes a mix of company-, jobber-, dealer- and franchisee-owned convenience and gasoline retail locations. As part of normal on-going business activity, BP reviews its network of branded sites to determine how best to serve customer needs and yield best overall performance for the company in each market and site location, according to the company.

In January, the company announced that it is extending its franchising concepts to a new BP Connect/Wild Bean Caf a franchise offer in the Eastern and Midwestern United States. The 12 franchise agreements that are being offered for sale this year in Florida will be the first franchises for BP East of the Rockies.

The Florida locations will be sold by NRC Realty Advisors LLC, Chicago, through a sealed bid sale in a buy one, some or all format with bids due on Tuesday, April 4. A complete list of sites and information on submitting bids is available online at www.nrc.com/508, or by calling (800) 747-3342, Ext. 508.

NRC will conduct a how-to-bid seminar on Thursday, Feb. 23, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Attendance at the seminar is required to bid on the BP-branded sites. NRC also has made available a comprehensive color sales brochure and a property specific package (PSP) for each property. The PSP contains store-level information and bidding terms of the sale. Each PSP is available for $35 for a hard copy and $25 for a CD-ROM.
