7-Eleven House-Cleaning Continues

Corporate communications team let go

DALLAS -- 7-Eleven Inc. continued to clean house this past week with the elimination of its Corporate Communications Department, and the full lineup of changes could be announced as soon as today, according to an interim company spokesperson.

Cynthia Baker told CSP Daily News a press release is in the works about management and other changes at the Dallas-based company that was taken private by Seven-Eleven Japan in November. We have some last-minute additions and things that we're updating, she said. Some of it has come out [in the trade press], but [image-nocss] it's not completely accurate.

Baker did confirm the elimination of the Corporate Communications Department, which included Jack Wilkie, vice president of national franchise and corporate communications; Margaret Chabris, public relations director; and Kevin Gardner, director of marketing communications.

Since the ownership change, others who have left the companyas reported in CSP Daily News include CEO and president Jim Keyes, senior vice president and CFO Edward Moneypenny, executive vice president of operations Gary Rose and senior vice president of merchandising David Podeschi.

In an interview with new CEO and president Joseph DePinto in November, he said he anticipated little change to the management team. I don't anticipate any [changes] right now, but if changes need to be made to strengthen what we're trying to do, we'll do that.

Attempts to reach DePinto for this story were unsuccessful.
