Casey's Gets Grander

Midwest retailer held 11 re-openings, two grand openings over weekend
ANKENY, Iowa -- Casey's General Stores Inc. celebrated 11 grand re-openings and two grand openings in five states this past weekend, beginning on Friday, with festivities at each location.

Headquartered in Ankeny, Iowa, Casey's owns and operates more than 1,600 convenience stores in 10 Midwestern states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Most Casey's operate in towns with populations of less than 5,000.

Grand re-openings are occurring in: Richland, Mo. Mount Vernon, Ia. Dixon, Mo. Steelville, [image-nocss] Mo. Bloomington, Ill. Clay City, Ill. Polo, Mo. Creston, Iowa. Hamburg, Iowa. Tama, Iowa. Norfolk, Neb.

Grand openings are occurring in: Marion, Ind. Bellevue, Iowa. And as previously announced in CSP Daily News' most recent edition of "Open & Shut," Casey's held a grand reopening of stores in Virden (click here for images), Pleasant Plains (click here for images), Frankfort and Ladd, Ill.; Freeport (click here for images), Cedar Rapids, Edgewood, Eldora and Sheffield, Iowa; Tariko and King City, Mo. (click here for images); and Tecumseh and Columbus, Neb., in March and early April, the company said on Twitter and Facebook.With an annual goal to increase its total number of stores 4% to 6%, Casey'ssaid in early Marchthat ithas acquired 74 stores and completed 14 new-store constructions."We are pleased with the recent acquisition environment, and we have written agreements for an additional 20 locations that we expect to complete in the next six months," Casey's president and CEO Robert J. Myers said at the time. The company said it also replaced nine locations during the first nine months of the year and completed 39 major remodels.
