MESA, Ariz. --The staff of CSPedia, CSP Business Media's online encyclopedia of convenience store chains, gathers new insights and news and updates the listings for the nearly 500 retailers in its database on a daily basis. CSPedia delivers a monthly summary of these reports, often news not yet announced publicly, to its subscribers.

People on the Move

  • 7-Eleven Inc. Darren Rebelez, former senior vice president and COO, has departed 7-Eleven to pursue other opportunities. His direct reports now report to Joe DePinto.
  • Alimentation Couche-Tard (Mac's, Circle K) North America. Alain Bouchard has officially stepped down as president and CEO, replaced by former COO Brian Hannasch. Bouchard will stay on as co-founder and executive chairman of the board. Co-founder Réal Plourde, who retired in 2011, surrendered the chairman position to Bouchard.
  • ALON Brands Retail (Southwest Convenience Stores) dba 7-Eleven. John West, former marketing vice president, has a new role overseeing the company's community and charitable programs. Tony Sparks is director of marketing for the stores.
  • BP America (ampm). Scott West and Brooke Adelman are the contacts for snacks. Barbara Nova has joined as senior category manager, foodservice. Malah Fuller has joined as merchandising manager. Jeff Fortenza has been named interim trading manager.
  • CMSI Convenience Management Services. Mike Garlick is no longer with the company.
  • Coles Energy Inc. (Mickey Mart) dba Mickey Mart Food Stores. New owner Dan Coles, president and CEO, acquired all of the Mickey Mart Food Stores and affiliated assets from family patriarch and founder Mick Coles.
  • Delek U.S. Holdings Inc. (Mapco). Tom Montgomery, former category manager, is no longer with Mapco. He has joined IDC Westinghouse.
  • Enmark Stations Inc. (Colonial Group Inc.). Tom Kelly has joined Enmark Stations as director of operations, replacing Jerry Morris, who retired.
  • Quality Oil Co. LLC dba Quality Mart, Quality Plus. Ernie Rhymer, former senior vice president of construction, has retired.
  • Shell Oil Products U.S. dba Shell-branded stations. Gregg Weaver is retail business manager with Shell Oil Co. Jim Perkins is North American alliance manager.
  • Speedy Stop Food Stores/Thomas Petroleum. Scott Campbell is director of operations in addition to his duties as marketing director. Mark Gresham and Danny Sanchez have left the company. Gresham's duties will be split among other staff members. Campbell has assumed Sanchez's duties as foodservice vendor contact.
  • Thorntons Inc. Tony Harris has been promoted to president of the Kentucky-based chain. He was succeeded as COO by Mike Woerner.
  • U-Gas Inc. dba UGas, Dirt Cheap, Gigi's. Michelle Adams is director of foodservice. Curtis Springer has left the company.
  • Westex Capital dba Pico. Robert Kusenberger Jr. is CEO. Anthony Kusenberger is in charge of wholesale propane and bulk fuel.

  • Aloha Petroleum Ltd. is being acquired by Susser Petroleum Partners LP. The Hawaii chain has 98 locations. Susser Petroleum recently became a subsidiary of Energy Transfer Partners LP, absorbed MACS (Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores) into its operations in a drop-down from ETP and has changed its name to Sunoco LP.
  • Condon Companies (Ultimart) dba Ultimart Convenience Store is adding A&W to stores and has removed Hot Stuff Pizza. The Wisconsin chain has 215 total locations.
  • San Antonio-based CST Brands has completed the purchase of Lehigh Gas Partners LP, which has changed its name to CrossAmerica Partners LP. CrossAmerica trades under the symbol "CAPL" and the partnership's common units will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The Pennsylvania chain has 1,100 locations.
  • Texas company Empire Petroleum Partners (Quick-Way Group) dba 7-Eleven, Beverage City has acquired the retail dealer business of Mansfield Oil Co. and is merging its retailer dealer operations. The chain also acquired 59 dealer supply agreements and certain real estate and leasehold assets from Georgia Oil Holdings.
  • The sale of Hess Retail Holdings LLC to Speedway LLC (Marathon Petroleum Corp.) closed in September. Speedway will transform more than 1,200 Hess Express and WilcoHess stores to the Speedway brand. The total Speedway store count will be 2,733 company-owned stores, with the headquarters in Findlay, Ohio.
  • Houchens Food Group dba Jr. Food Stores, Crossroads IGA has added its first Schlotzsky's Deli and plans more in 2014-2015 in its Crossroads IGA format. The chain has 81 stores.
  • Jackson Food Stores (Jackson Oil) is merging the operations of the recently acquired Danny's Family Cos. Arizona stores into the Jackson operations. The Phoenix metro-area stores soon will be rebranded. The Idaho company owns and operates more than 200 Jacksons stores. The chain also bought Pettit Oil's branded dealer business, bringing the number of its branded retail sites to more than 700.
  • Michigan's Krist Oil Co. dba Krist Food Marts rebranded from CITGO Quik Food Marts last year, plans two new stores in 2015 and about six remodels. The chain introduced a new logo for its 72 locations.
  • The buyer of Arizona's 35-chain Reay's Ranch Investors LLC dba Minit Mart, Super Stop, Gordon's Market still has not been announced, but the transaction is expected to be completed this year.
  • Pennsylvania chain Sheetz Inc. has joined the Partnership for a Healthier America, committing to offering more nutritious options in all 475 of its stores. The chain also has installed electric-vehicle charging stations at five sites.
