DePinto Back in the Game

Former operations exec replaces Keyes as president and CEO at 7-Eleven

DALLAS -- As reported yesterday in a CSP Daily News Flash, Joseph M. DePinto has been named president and chief executive officer of 7-Eleven Inc. effective December 1. He will replace Jim Keyes, who retired from the company earlier this month.

DePinto will oversee all strategic, operational and financial aspects of the company, and will report to Toshifumi Suzuki, chairman and CEO of Seven-Eleven Japan Co. Ltd., Tokyo. With the buyout of 7-Eleven by Seven-Eleven Japan earlier this month, Suzuki has been serving as interim president and CEO for the U.[image-nocss] S. entity.

DePinto, 43, is returning to 7-Eleven from GameStop Corp., a video game and entertainment software retailer, where he has served as president since March 2005. Before joining GameStop, DePinto was vice president of operations at 7-Eleven. Prior to that, DePinto was senior vice president and chief operating officer of Thornton Quick Cafe & Market. He began his career at PepsiCo Inc., where he held a number of executive positions.

Joe's proven ability to drive results will be an advantage for 7-Eleven as we continue to improve our operations, said Suzuki. With Joe's background in marketing, merchandising and operations and his demonstrated focus on customer service and satisfaction, he will provide excellent leadership for the next phase of our growth. Joe previously served as 7-Eleven's vice president of operations, so he knows our business and strategies well, and we are pleased that he is returning to 7-Eleven.

7-Eleven operates or franchises approximately 5,800 7-Eleven stores in the United States and Canada and licenses approximately 23,200 7-Eleven stores in 17 countries and U.S. territories throughout the world. During 2004, 7-Eleven stores worldwide generated total sales of approximately $41 billion.
