Joan Douglass recognized for charity work

SHERMAN, Texas -- After 25 years of active service to various charities and missions, Joan Douglass, wife of retailer Bill Douglass, was awarded a Special Mission Recognition Award by the Women's Division, General Board of Global Ministries, The United Methodist Church.

The award was given for Joan Douglass' years of work with women, children and youth. Douglass has been active for 25 years in various charities and missions in her community, county and the North Texas region.

She is currently chair of Big Brothers & Big Sisters [image-nocss] of North Texas; president electRehabilitation Center; founder of Grayson County Home Hospice, past chair Board of Directors; chair of the 25th Anniversary Celebration; a church Sunday School teacher for 25 years; North Texas United Methodist Church Board on Council of Finance and Administration; Wesley Village Retirement CommunityBoard of Directors; and a representative of Project Transformation Mission.

Bill Douglass is CEO of family-owned and -operated Douglass Distributing, a gasoline distributor based in Sherman, Texas, and operator of Lone Star Food Stores. He is also a past chairman of the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS).
