Flying J Gets Into Dodgeand Dothan

Chain opens two new travel plazas

OGDEN, Utah -- Flying J Inc. has opened two new travel plazas located in Dodge City, Kansas, and Dothan, Ala.

Formerly know as the Hitching Post, the Dodge City travel plaza opened in January and offers drivers five diesel lanes and six gasoline lanes. It has 32 paved parking spaces, with another 30 spaces unpaved. Drivers will be able to freshen up using the plaza's four private showers and relax in the drivers' lounge or watch movies in the theater room.

The Country Market Restaurant & Buffet will seat 118 guests and is [image-nocss] open 24 hours a day.

The location is managed by district manager Greg Yakish.

And Flying J opened the Dothan travel plaza on February 6. Located on 18 acres, this new plaza offers its guests 120 truck parking spaces, 70 diesel and 12 gasoline pumps. Drivers can freshen up with the plaza's nine showers.

The Country Market seats 108 guests. Two quick-serve food operations will also be available to guests: Pepperoni's Pizza and Magic Dragon, which offers Chinese food.

The plaza will also offer drivers a financial service center.

General Manager Fuel/C-Store: David King is the general manager of fuel and the convenience store; Charles Balentine is the district manager.

In other company news, Ogden, Utah-based Flying J Services has teamed with Aflac to offer professional drivers insurance coverage to help families and individuals meet the demands of rising medical expenses.

Over-the-road drivers may apply for this kind of coverage by visiting with a licensed insurance agent now located in many Flying J Travel Plazas across the country. Unlike traditional health insurance, Aflac pays the policyholder, not the doctor or hospital, the company said.

By the end of 2006, Flying J will have remodeled more than 60 of its travel plazas across the country to include financial services centers. Many of these centers will be staffed with a licensed insurance agent who represents a complete line of personal and trucking insurance products. Currently, agents are located in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Utah; Phoenix; Warrenton, Mo.; Dallas; Laredo, Texas; Franklin, Ky.; Jackson, Ga.; South Beloit, Ill.; Alorton, Ill.;; Rock Hill, N.C.; and Oklahoma City.

Flying J Insurance Services offers insurance that meets the needs of drivers and carriers of all sizes. Its portfolio of group and individual products includes primary liability, cargo, physical damage and commercial general liability. Flying J Insurance Services also offers a package of insurance products for owner-operators, including occupation accident and health insurance.
