Grand Opening: Inside Parker's Market's Renovated Flagship
By Mitch Morrison on Jul. 12, 2017SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Parker Cos. recently renovated its flagship convenience store in Savannah, Ga.’s National Landmark Historic District.
Outside, the site remains a throwback to the classic gasoline stations of the past, but inside, the store serves as tourist and motorist draw, satisfying the need for everyday needs, as well as a keepsake or two by which to remember the antebellum city.
There's also a variety of foodservice options, from standard c-store fare to Southern favorites.
Here's a look inside the site first opened as Parker's Market Urban Gourmet in 1999 ...
While the location offers a variety of gift options and wine, more space was devoted to packaged beverages and prepared foods as part of the remodel. Parker’s worked with Rethink Design to create a fresh, industrial-inspired environment rich with tile and ironwork accents.
The remodeled Parker’s Market Urban Gourmet features an enhanced foodservice program, which includes a salad bar with 32 toppings, hot panini press and deli.
Southern favorites such as chicken tenders and mac and cheese are an integral part of the menu.
The location now has more bean-to-cup gourmet coffee options and an expanded pastry case with fresh cookies, bagels, muffins and more.
A large merchandiser features grab-and-go sandwiches, fruits, hummus and more.
A refreshed inventory includes more frozen drinks, artisan juices, craft sodas and cold-brew coffees.
Better-for-you chips and snacks are neatly stocked and well-lit, some in a grocery setting.
The renovation also involved moving the checkout area, upgrading lighting and replacing coolers, fixtures and finishes.
With 46 c-stores, Savannah-based Parker Co. ranked No. 132 on CSP's 2017 Top 202.
