McNutt to Lead SIGMA

Fuel-marketers association selects new CEO

FAIRFAX, Va. -- In a move that helps position the group to better represent both fuel marketers and convenience-store operators, SIGMA has selected Ryan McNutt as its chief executive officer.

"After a robust national selection process, in which over 75 highly qualified candidates were considered, the SIGMA executive search committee unanimously selected Ryan as the next chief executive of the association," said Tom Gresham, president of SIGMA's Board of Directors.

McNutt has a rich history with SIGMA, having previously served on the association's Legislative Committee and Board of Directors. He spent 10 years with Midwest Petroleum, a St. Louis-based convenience-store operator. As its vice president of operations, he was responsible for all aspects of store operations, marketing, merchandising, human resources and risk management. He most recently served as a senior director in national retail sales for Anheuser-Busch in the convenience-store channel.

"It is a great honor to be leading SIGMA at a time of so much potential and growth for the industry," said McNutt. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to create long-term value for the association and its members in the years to come."

McNutt fills the position vacated by former executive vice president Kenneth Doyle, who left SIGMA in July 2014 after more than 30 years.

McNutt will assume the role on April 20 and work closely with SIGMA's Board of Directors, staff and members to ensure the association continues its role as a leading voice for the fuel marketing community and that its events, programs and services remain relevant and further advance the interests of the industry for the future.

"Ryan's reputation for engaging members and his dynamic leadership style are going to be a great asset for our association," said Gresham. "With SIGMA's outstanding staff that has been nothing short of exemplary during this time of transition, we are extremely excited for the future."

McNutt holds a bachelor of science in business administration from St. Louis University. He earned his masters of business administration from Washington University in St. Louis.

Founded in 1958 as the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America, SIGMA's approximately 260 corporate members command over 40% of the petroleum retail market, selling approximately 75 billion gallons of motor fuel each year. These member companies operate throughout the United States and Canada.
