Pester Rebranding Effort Proceeding

Applying Alta name across retail flags; adding distribution center, garage

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. -- Pester Marketing Co., the owner of 51 convenience stores and fuel distributor Alta Fuels, recently launched a rebranding effort for the stores under the Alta name, reported The Pueblo Chieftain.

The company also is expanding its Pueblo branch distribution center, said the report.

In Colorado, the company operates 42 convenience stores under the First Stop and Farm Crest names, including eight First Stops in the Pueblo area. It operates an additional 10 stores in Kansas and Nebraska.

It said that it expects the ongoing rebranding to be completed in 2013.

Beyond the stores, the company is expanding its Alta Fuels division by adding an in-house truck repair garage and warehouse/office building at its Pueblo branch center, the report said. The changes come as the company "is capitalizing on some growth opportunities for our facilities and our transportation and trucks," Jim Sammons, president of the fuel division, told the newspaper.

The company's position as both a store operator as well as one of the region's largest independent fuel distributors add to its strength in the market, he said.

The truck repair garage will allow in-house maintenance on the center's large fleet of trucks, lubricant division manager Aaron James told the paper. The warehouse and office building will provide needed space for packaged goods and also administrative functions, he added.

Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Pester Marketing is a privately owned company in business for more than 50 years. In addition to the retail side of the business, Pester Marketing's wholesale subsidiary, Alta Fuels, located in Alamosa, Col., is a major supplier of biofuels, both E85 and biodiesel.  Alta Fuels also carries a full line of ExxonMobil lubricants and serves customers in Colorado and New Mexico.
